2. What time does the band actually touch road, and from where?
A start time you only learn the week before Carnival is a planning problem, especially if you're booking flights or a hotel. WE J'ouvert touches road at approximately 4:00 AM on Carnival Monday from Port of Spain, and asks masqueraders to be at the launch point by 3:30 AM. 3. How long are you on the road?
Some bands run a short push; others go until the sun is well up. WE J'ouvert runs roughly six hours, finishing mid-morning. That length is worth knowing before you decide what footwear to wear and what time to tell someone to collect you.
4. Is there security for the whole route?
This is the question that matters most and gets asked least. A band with dedicated security for the full route is a materially different experience from playing loose in the street at 4 AM, particularly for visitors and for anyone playing without a big group. WE J'ouvert has dedicated security for the full route, every year.
5. Is there a water truck and are there washrooms?
Six hours in paint, in the dark, in Trinidad heat. A water truck is how the paint comes off before you go home, and washrooms are the difference between a comfortable morning and a miserable one. Both are included with WE.
6. Can you see what the band actually looked like last year?
Any band can write a good paragraph. Photographs of real mornings are harder to fake. Ask for last year's gallery — not a promo reel, the actual crowd. 7. How long has the band been running, and at what scale?

9. What happens if it rains?
J'ouvert happens in the rain. It always has. Ask anyway — a band that hasn't thought about it hasn't thought about much. WE J'ouvert plays through rain; the morning is already wet by design.
10. When does it sell out?
