TERMS
Tickets, refunds, collection and taking part — the rules for every WE booking, in plain language.
Last updated 3 November 2026. WE J'ouvert Band is operated by WET EXPERIENCE J'OUVERT BAND LTD, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
WE J'ouvert Band (“WE”, “the band”, “we”, “us”) is operated by WET EXPERIENCE J'OUVERT BAND LTD, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
These terms apply whenever you register, buy a ticket, package or costume, or enter an event through this website, by WhatsApp, or in person. That covers J'ouvert, the WE J'ouvert 1K & 5K Run/Walk and any other event we run (each an “Event”). When you tick the box on a registration form, you are agreeing to these terms for yourself and for everyone on your booking.
If you register other people, you confirm that they have agreed to you doing so and that you have shown them these terms. Where something specific to one Event is published on its own page or registration form (for example a collection date or a refund note), that specific statement applies alongside these terms.
2. Age
- J'ouvert is adults only. Every masquerader must be 18 or over on the day. We may ask for photo ID at collection or on the road, and we will refuse entry, without a refund, to anyone who is under 18 or cannot show ID when asked.
- 1K & 5K and family events. Children may take part where the Event says so. Anyone under 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms for them and is responsible for supervising them for the whole Event.
3. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in Trinidad and Tobago dollars (TTD). Any USD figure on the site is a guide converted for convenience; the TTD amount is the one you pay.
- Card payments are taken on WiPay's secure hosted page. A flat TT$9 card processing fee is added to card payments and is shown in your order summary before you pay. We never see or store your card number.
- Bank transfer bookings are confirmed only after we have checked your proof of payment against our account. Until then your place is not guaranteed.
- We may cancel a registration that is not paid within a reasonable time, or that was paid with a reversed, disputed or fraudulent payment.
- Promo codes can be used once each unless we say otherwise, have no cash value, cannot be combined unless we say so, and may be withdrawn if they are misused.
- Prices can change at any time (for example, when Early Bird ends). The price shown when you pay is the price you pay.
4. Refunds, collection and transfers
Tickets, packages, costumes and race entries are non-refundable, including if you change your mind, cannot travel, fall ill, or miss the Event. The only exceptions are:
- you were charged twice for the same booking, or charged the wrong amount because of our mistake: we refund the difference;
- we cancel the Event entirely (see section 9); or
- a refund is required by law.
Collection. Packages, costumes, wristbands and race bibs must be collected at the dates, times and places we advertise to registrants. Anything not collected in that window is forfeited, with no refund, credit or transfer.
Transfers. A booking is personal to the people named on it. Message us if you need to change a name; any change is at our discretion and must be made before collection.
Approved refunds are paid back to the original payment method or bank account, less any processing fees the payment provider does not return to us, and can take up to 10 working days to arrive.
5. Health, safety and your own risk
J'ouvert and road races are physical, outdoor, crowded events. By taking part you understand and accept the risks that come with them, including:
- walking, running or dancing for several hours, before dawn and in the heat, on public roads that may be uneven, wet or poorly lit;
- large, moving crowds, music trucks and other vehicles on or near the route;
- paint, powder (abir), mud and water, which can irritate skin and eyes, trigger allergies or asthma, and permanently stain clothing, shoes, phones and jewellery;
- alcohol being served and consumed around you.
You confirm that, for yourself and everyone on your booking:
- you are in good enough health to take part, and you will get medical advice first if you are unsure;
- you have told us, in the medical notes on the form, about anything our safety team should know;
- you take part voluntarily and at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own wellbeing, including drinking enough water and pacing yourself.
If you are injured or unwell during an Event, you agree that our team and any medical personnel present may give or arrange first aid and call emergency services, and may contact the emergency contact you gave us.
6. Alcohol
- Alcohol included in a package is served only to people aged 18 or over. Drinks are a feature of the package, not an amount you are entitled to.
- Our bar team may refuse or stop serving anyone who appears intoxicated, is behaving unsafely, or cannot show ID.
- Drink responsibly. Never drive after drinking — plan your journey home before the Event.
7. Conduct and removal
Follow the directions of our security, marshals and crew, and of the police, at all times. Wear your wristband or bib where it can be seen. We may refuse entry to, or remove from the band or the Event, without a refund, anyone who:
- is violent, threatening, or harasses or touches anyone without consent;
- carries a weapon or illegal drugs, or brings unauthorised people into the band;
- is so intoxicated that they are a danger to themselves or others;
- damages property, or deliberately throws paint or powder on people who are not playing with the band;
- breaks the law or these terms, or ignores a safety instruction.
8. Photos, video and race results
Our Events are photographed and filmed, by us and by photographers we work with. By attending, you agree that you may appear in that footage and that we may use it, without payment, on this website, on our social media, and in promotion of the band and future Events.
If there is a particular photo of you that you would like taken down from our website or social media, email us with a link or screenshot and we will remove it. We cannot recall material that has already been printed or shared by others.
For timed races, results are published on this website showing position, bib number, name, finishing time, age and gender. If you do not want your name shown in the results, tell us before race day, or email us afterwards and we will remove it.
9. Changes, postponement and cancellation
Routes, start times, assembly points, music, drinks brands, costume details and inclusions may change for practical, safety or legal reasons, or because of police or Carnival authority instructions. Changes like these are not grounds for a refund.
If an Event is postponed, your booking moves to the new date. If we cancel an Event entirely and do not reschedule it, we will offer you either a place at a later Event or a refund of the amount you paid for the cancelled booking.
We are not responsible for delays, changes or cancellations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, public-health measures, government or police orders, civil unrest, or the cancellation of Carnival itself. In those cases we will do what we reasonably can — reschedule, offer a credit, or refund what we are able to recover — but we cannot cover travel, accommodation or other costs you incurred.
10. Your belongings
Bring only what you need. We are not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings, including phones, jewellery, clothing and footwear, or for staining caused by paint, powder or mud. Use a waterproof pouch.
11. Our liability
We take reasonable care to run safe, well-organised Events. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as flights, hotels, lost earnings or missed plans), and our total liability to you in connection with a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. This website and your reviews
The WE name, logo, music, photographs, video and text on this site belong to us or to the people who license them to us. Please do not copy or reuse them commercially without our permission. Sponsor names and logos belong to their owners.
If you submit a review, you confirm it is your own honest experience, and you allow us to publish it (with your name as you gave it) on this site and in our promotion. We moderate reviews and may decline or remove any review, but we do not edit what a review says.
13. Governing law and changes to these terms
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and the courts of Trinidad and Tobago have jurisdiction over any dispute. Please talk to us first — most problems are sorted with a message.
We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top shows the latest version. The version in force when you made your booking is the one that applies to it. How we handle your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
